Accreditation: This program is accredited with the Australian Institute of Building.
Practicum/Work Placement: It is a requirement of the program that students write up two reports on their work experience while studying.

Program Overview

This program provides training in all aspects of construction management and aims to produce graduates capable of managing and controlling complex construction projects. Students must be employed in the building industry.

Prospective students are encouraged to talk to the Program Coordinator about exemptions from the program based on previous study or professional experience. The Faculty has established sets of exemptions for holders of TAFE qualifications.

A normal part-time load is 12 units of credit for terms 2 and 3, and 6 units of credit in term 5. Students should note prerequisite requirements and course availability (in this Handbook) when constructing their program in liaison with the Program Coordinator. It is suggested that you study courses in order of level.

An elective may be chosen from a wide selection within the Faculty. However, it is recommended that it be chosen from another building program, otherwise the selection must be approved by the relevant faculty authority. The chosen elective must be six units of credit.

Transitional Arrangements for Building Programs

As the building programs have been restructured, students still in these programs must ensure that they complete courses out of the new programs at appropriate levels. Students must liaise closely with their Program Coordinator to ensure correct enrolment.
