Program Overview

This program aims to present specialist education and training in the core elements of human resources management (HRM) which will permit students to operate as human resources professionals in the domestic and international business environment.

Students can undertake a coursework program (Program A) or a research and coursework program (Program B).

Entry

• a sound bachelor's degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college; or
• a CQU Graduate Diploma of Human Resources Management.

Program Structure (12 courses)

Program A (by coursework only)

• 7 core courses:

• 3 management courses:

  MGMT20095   Asia Pacific Business MGMT20112   Strategy Formulation & Initiatives MGMT20113   Strategy Implementation

• 2 elective postgraduate courses from the Faculty of Business & Law, provided prerequisites have been met.

Program B (by coursework and research)

• 7 core courses:

  HRMT20006   Human Resources Management on the Pacific Rim HRMT20007   Human Resources Management HRMT20008   Contemporary Issues in Human Resources Management HRMT20018   Contemporary Industrial Relations MGMT20093   Managing in a Dynamic Environment MGMT20094   Organisational Analysis MGMT20074   Integrating Organisational Processes

• 5 research courses:

  BUSN19002   Business Research Methodology, and a four course Dissertation in a HRM field of study

Students undertaking Program B are advised that Dissertations are available only with the approval of the Dean.

Before commencing Program B, students should discuss their proposed research topic with the Head of the School of Management to ensure that a suitable supervisor will be available.
