MMST12015 Digital Moviemaking
This course is both a practical introduction
to digital video production and a critical examination of digital movies
and the digital moviemaking process. Practical
work focuses on script development, storyboarding, camera techniques,
sound, digital video editing and exporting to a range of formats.
In addition to these conceptual and technical skills, this course provides
students with an analytical framework for exploring the creative
and cultural significance of digital moviesmainstream
and alternative, professional and amateur, off-line and onlineas
a form of communication. Assessment involves the creation and critique
of a short digital movie. Distance education students who enrol
in this course will need access to a video camera and video-editing
software such as Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio. Access to a
multimedia computer with an Internet connection, audio capabilities,
a CD-ROM drive and a Zip drive is also a requirement for this course.
Students who enrol in this course are expected to have an understanding of
the topics covered in COMM11005 Introduction
to Communication & Culture.
