COMM11005  Introduction to Communication & Culture

This course looks at the relationship between communication and cultural practices. These practices shape the way we form our identities and build relationships with others and with the world at large. So rather than teaching students 'how to' communicate, this course looks at how we communicate and the effect this has on our values, meaning and social actions. At the same time, through exposure to a range of media and examples of communication in practice, we aim to assist students in developing skills in critical thinking, creativity and the ability to communicate effectively across a range of contexts.
