Students who DO NOT have a background in computing and programming should select introductory courses from the following list:
Students who DO have a background in computing and programming are not required to take introductory units, and may enrol directly into specialist units. Only 2 introductory courses will count towards the degree. A student may credit only one of COIT11134 , COIT11135 , or COIT13115 . Students must be aware of prerequisite requirements. Students are able to waive prerequisite requirements if they feel they have the background knowledge to enable successful completion of specialist units. Students should aim to complete a minimum of 3 units per year. Exemptions Students will not be granted exemptions unless they have completed the equivalent course (as a single, non-award course) through CQUs Centre for Professional Education or Open Learning Australia within the previous 3 years. Students please note: Students who do not have fundamental skills in programming should enrol in COIT11133 and COIT11134 . Students who have a programming background but not in the C++ language are encouraged to enrol in COIT11135 . Computing Requirements You will need access to a computer for your studies. Access to the Internet is strongly recommended. A machine of the MS Windows type is required. Hardware and software specifications change, so if you are purchasing a computer for your studies, you should purchase the best quality and highest capacity (RAM, hard drive, monitor) that you can afford. Transitional Arrangements The following table shows courses which have been phased out and current courses. Students wishing to graduate from the GDIT using the 1999 structure may use current courses if the former GDIT unit is no longer available.
