International students applying for distance education should note that only the EMS and OHS specialisations are available.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites: OP>14 or equivalent expected.

Recommended study - English (4, SA), Maths B (4, SA), Chemistry, Biology, Science.

Requirement: Students are required to obtain a first-aid certificate prior to enrolment in course PMSC11001.

Students who have not studied chemistry are advised to enrol in CHEM40079.

Professional Accreditation

The program has received preliminary approval from the Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA). The provisional accreditation process is currently underway. For further information on professional accreditation, please refer to More Details section.

Residential School

There are several compulsory residential schools/workshops attached to the following program when taken in the EXTERNAL mode. See More Details for more information.

Practicum/Work placement

Students will be required to undertake a minimum of 15 weeks (600 hours) of compulsory off-campus clinical placements during the program as well as an orientation program by the Queensland Ambulance Service. Students will be provided with extensive simulation training focussing on real world patient conditions through high fidelity simulation.
