Occupational therapists can work in diverse settings in urban, rural and remote areas and may include hospitals (public & private), community centres, rehabilitation centres, schools, aged care facilities and private practice.
About Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists work with people to overcome pain, limitations and other issues associated with injury, illness, development problems and ageing; and to improve the quality of life of people experiencing these conditions. The course develops the theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and attitudes required to work effectively in an occupational therapy role in the public and private health sector. Students study a range if discipline areas including anatomy and physiology, health science and promotion, and psychology. They then undertake specialised study associated with occupational therapy diagnosis and treatment methods, and on strategies for improving the quality of life for people suffering chronic pain and other conditions. Students undertake extensive clinical placements throughout their program focusing on occupational therapy specific activities.
