Course details
Students in this course analyse, design and prepare documentation for major civil engineering projects involving a broad range of investigation and design activities. Students establish project requirements and determine design loads and conditions, analyse structures as systems, and design the components of the structural system. They conduct site investigations, test and characterise geotechnical materials, design foundations and earth retaining structures and make geotechnical stability assessments. Students develop designs in team environments, document communications and professional decision-making processes; research, check, evaluate project information; and prepare professional documentation for project work.
Distance Education (Flex) students will be required to attend a residential school to promote development of course learning outcomes.
