Course details
This course builds on the knowledge and fundamental holistic assessment skills learnt in earlier courses with the focal point being the development of advanced clinical assessment skills which are essential for nurses caring for, and responding to, the needs of the acutely ill client. Students should be able to critically reflect on the initial primary and ongoing secondary clinical assessment of the acutely ill client including assessment of the psychosocial needs of the individual and their family. In addition students should be able to correlate physical assessment findings, psychosocial assessment, latest research evidence and therapeutic interventions to optimise effective and appropriate clinical decision making.
Participation in the intensive workshops is compulsory.
