MEDS13001 Ultrasound of Obstetrics and Gynaecology 2

Course details

This course advances the students study of obstetric ultrasound. The student will learn to recognise the normal, anomalous and abnormal sonographic appearances of the gravid female pelvis and foetal development, identifying relevant pathologies and creating oral and written technical reports appropriate to the field of obstetric sonography. The abnormal gravid pelvis and the key features of embryology as they relate to abnormal foetal development will be a major component of this course. Students will learn to identify family-centred, holistic communication and care strategies employed in the care of ¿high risk¿ obstetric patients. The students will be introduced to the ethical, medico-legal and professional issues relevant to ¿high risk¿ Obstetrics.
