Course details
In this course, students explore the role of engineers in ethically developing and maintaining sustainable socio-technical systems. They holistically investigate environmental, social, cultural and global impacts arising from use of renewable and non-renewable energy and resources, and review engineering projects to assess their sustainability. Students review professional capabilities expected of engineering associates, evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses and develop personal improvement plans. They research issues, evaluate the quality of the information obtained and prepare reports and presentations to communicate results. Students develop communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills required to function effectively in the engineering workplace and as collaborative learners.
Students will be required to attend a compulsory residential school early in Term 1 to promote development of course learning outcomes.
