MEDI12001 Radiation Science

Course details

This course prepares students for the safe and effective use of ionising radiation for radiographic imaging in the laboratory and clinical environment. The course covers production and control of the radiation beam, radiation interactions in matter and risk of detriment to the human body from exposure to radiation. Radiation safety and dose minimisation practices in the clinical environment are examined in light of current findings on detriment from low level radiation and evolving technology in clinical practice.
