NURS13129 Mental Health and Mental Health Nursing

Course details

This course will provide students with knowledge of the different patterns of symptom presentation in people experiencing mental health challenges. Students will be able to critically reflect on the use of self in the development and maintenance of therapeutic relationships with consumers and their families. The integral nature of consumer perspectives and input into mental health care will be examined. In this course, students will be encouraged to critically examine interventions for people experiencing different mental health challenges. Students will be expected to function within the scope of practice of a nursing student in accordance with Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) competencies during a compulsory clinical placement.


Students who have satisfactorily completed NURS13113 The Psychiatric Consumer are not required to complete this new course.
