Course details

This course examines the elements of criminal procedure in Queensland. It encompasses topics chosen from the classification of offences, processes to compel appearance, bail, sentencing of adult and youth offenders, preliminary examination and trial of indictable offences. The aims of this course are to identify the legislation that governs criminal law in Queensland, provide a detailed knowledge of the trial and appeal processes in Queensland and to enable students to acquire a sound working knowledge of the rules of criminal procedure and to discuss the contemporary issues facing this branch of the law.
