EDED11404 Professional Knowledge in Context

Course details

Professional Knowledge in Context focuses on the refinement, synthesis and deployment of student learning managers' professional knowledge as it applies to a range of learning contexts. Attention is drawn to the kinds of ethical and professional dilemmas that emerge through the daily contestations between multiple educational stakeholders and the range of strategies available to professional practitioners in different learning environments to work towards a resolution of these dilemmas in considered, ethical ways. The course draws on the theoretical and practical understandings developed over previous courses to further develop conceptual understandings about teaching as a form of professional work which is made particularly complex through the shaping forces of both macro and micro contexts of education. The ethical dilemmas and strategies constituting module one of the course build understandings that are important to the development of the Professional Philosophy which, as the focus of module two, helps to prepare students for the Internship and the subsequent complex role of the learning manager.
