PSIO21001 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy 1

Course details

This course is aimed at providing the student with a sound knowledge of purposeful assessment and the management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions of the lumbar spine and lower limb. Students will apply the principles of clinical reasoning and patient assessment in this specific field with regard to pathology and pain. Skills will be developed in the biomechanical analysis of static and dynamic postures. The association of pain, injury and pathology to the neuromusculoskeletal system is reviewed with a view to a comprehensive and informed patient assessment and management. Topics covered include: observation and analysis of movement of the lumbar spine and lower limbs; introduction to medical imaging for physiotherapists and treatment techniques.
