Course details
In this course, students will be able to explain the processes of risk assessment and treatment planning for different types of patients, including emergency patients. Current approaches to the management and prevention of dental diseases, including dental caries, periodontal diseases and tooth erosion will be analysed. Students will be able to explain the appropriate use of dental materials in the management of dental diseases and manage the different requirements of a wide range of individual patients.
The fundamental principles of pharmacology will be formulated as they apply to dental health. Students will be required to communicate information relevant to oral health in oral and written formats, and defend their attitudes/behaviours in terms of that which is expected of evolving dental practitioners.
Lastly, students will be able to communicate oral health in oral and written formats in terms of relevant interpersonal/team communication skills and professional attitudes/behaviours.
