NURS12151 Pharmacology for Nurses

Course details

The competent management of medication therapy is integral to nursing practice. Knowledge of the principles of medication therapy and quality use of medicines is essential for safe nursing practice. Students will critically examine the role of the nurse in the preparation and administration of medicines and other therapeutic substances. Students will examine the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of common medications. Students will apply best practice principles in the safe administration of medication and other therapeutic substances (oxygen, blood, blood products and parenteral nutrition) including proper use of related devices.
