Course details
This course will enable students to explore concepts of diversity and inclusive practice and its relevance to health care practice. Vulnerable, disadvantaged and stigmatised populations experience poorer health outcomes than other groups in society. Students will be encouraged to critically evaluate the impact of health literacy, health policy and healthcare practice on health outcomes. Through their studies in this course, students will reflect on their own attitudes towards vulnerable, disadvantaged and stigmatised populations. In addition, the health disadvantages experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as a result of historical and contemporary influences will be explored.
