FINC23003 Shari'ah Capital Markets

Course details

Students who successfully complete this course will understand and be able to describe the major economic development and capital mobilisation functions performed by Shari’ah capital markets and compare with the equivalent elements in Western capital markets and their official supervision. They will be able to explain the operations of the main instruments and markets that comprise a developed Shari’ah financial system and calculate prices and investment yields for financial securities, evaluate the main risks involved and how they are managed in a Shari’ah financial system, and justify and communicate the potential for Shari’ah financial markets to impose financial discipline on the management of financial institutions and clients.
