NURS12152 Transitional Nursing Studies 1

Course details

This course is aimed at students who are transitioning from the Diploma of Nursing to the Bachelor of Nursing. This transition requires the acquisition of the higher order critical thinking skills which are expected of a registered nurse. Students will be introduced to the scope of practice of Registered Nurses and legal and ethical frameworks which shape nursing practice. Students will also be introduced to the recovery approach to mental health care and build upon their knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental health nursing. Students will have the opportunity to utilise knowledge of the Enrolled Nurse role to analyse their transition to baccalaureate studies. Students will be expected to function within the scope of practice of a nursing student in accordance with Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) competencies during a compulsory mental health clinical placement.
