ORAL12002 Oral Health Pre Clinical Practice 1

Course details

This course provides students with pre-clinical experience of workplace health and safety, maintenance, ergonomics, record management and practice management schedules and policies. On the completion of the course, students should be able to demonstrate proficiency in examination, medical and dental history taking and risk assessment for children and adults with the aid of impressions, and extra- and intraoral radiology. Students will be able to discuss the nervous and vascular supply to the dentition and periodontium, and explain the principles of pain management and local anaesthesia.
Students should be able to apply knowledge and demonstrate skills in the preventive and operative management of dental caries and periodontal diseases and demonstrate skill in teeth whitening. Lastly, students will be able to communicate oral health in oral and written formats in terms of relevant interpersonal/team communication skills and professional attitudes/behaviours.
