COIT20242 Web Services Technologies

Course details

A web service is an independent software component that can be accessed through the Internet using standard protocols. Web services provide for a different approach to application development ¿ one where services are externally sourced and then integrated into an application. In this course, students are introduced to a widely used set of open source and Java-based technologies that will enable them to design, develop and deploy effective web services and web applications. This technology suite will be compared with other commonly used suites. The role of web services as a foundation for an enterprise¿s IT architecture will also be discussed.
