MEDS13005 Paediatric Sonography

Course details

This course provides an introduction to the ultrasound of the paediatric patient, which is a unique body of knowledge. It introduces the student to paediatric anatomy, the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal structures, sonographic techniques and procedures, identifying relevant pathologies and creating oral and written technical reports appropriate to the field of paediatric sonography. This course identifies family-centred, holistic communication and care strategies employed in the appropriate care of the paediatric patient. The student will be introduced to the ethical, medico-legal and professional issues relevant to the paediatric patient.
