MGMT13150 Sustainability Capstone

Course details

The capstone course is the culmination of coursework in the Sustainability major in the Bachelor of Business degree and is taken during the final term of study. It is designed to provide students with an academic background in sustainability, the opportunity to practice and to think creatively and critically about the sustainability of a self-selected business/organisation (from social equity, environmental, governance, and/or economical perspectives). Students evaluate (as an individual or as a team) the sustainability of one public agency, not-for-profit/volunteer organisation, or private business. Each individual/team provides (a) a research proposal (outlining how they intend to collect information) and (b) a final report (describing their findings and recommendations). Some lectures and tutorials will be given (focusing on evaluative research methods) but students will be expected to function independently as individuals/teams to collect data and analyse information. This course will require a comprehensive and thorough application of academic material (from previous courses in sustainability) and should demonstrate the student¿s abilities to successfully apply what they have learned during their program of study to the profession. In particular, it will demonstrate the student¿s ability to achieve more sustainable outcomes for businesses and other organisations.
