BMSC11003 Introduction to Medical Sciences

Course details

This course gives an introduction to each of the specialist areas of Medical Sciences, providing the student with sufficient information about the type of work, research and application of scientific knowledge and techniques in pathology, physiological measurement, nutrition and biotechnology. Practical laboratory classes will provide an opportunity for students to experience typical techniques applied in the practise of each specialisation. The breadth and content of this course will provide sufficient detail on each topic to allow the student to make an informed choice about which specialisation to study in subsequent years and therefore the named award they will graduate with. Distance education (FLEX) students will be required to have access to a computer to make frequent use of internet resources and will be expected to attend a residential school for this course to meet the learning outcomes.
