NURS21165 Effective Interpersonal Skills in Mental Health

Course details

Students in this course will demonstrate effective communication skills and be able to convey ideas, emotions, and information through a variety of verbal, observational and written modes. Students should be able to organise the knowledge obtained and employ this in a broad range of mental health practice settings. Students will gain a more comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the role of human communication in creating, maintaining, and modifying communication values and principles. Strategies to monitor and evaluate one's own learning and communication skills will be included as will the ability to reflect critically on the students own nursing practice regarding interpersonal communication, using ideas introduced in the course.
