ENEC13012 Transportation Engineering Design

Course details

Transportation engineering planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of transportation systems. This project-based learning course prepares students to conduct traffic studies and forecasts, determine routes and assess feasibility and sustainability of road construction projects, prepare environmental impact assessments and management plans and use ethical decision-making processes in design. Students design and document horizontal and vertical alignments; cross-sections and earthworks; pavement requirements; road drainage, and intersection layouts. Students work, learn and communicate in a professional manner, alone and in project teams, and use information literacy skills to investigate designs and prepare oral presentations and formal technical reports.
Distance education (FLEX) students are required to have access to a computer and make frequent use of the Internet.
