Course details
Using radiographic skills and knowledge already taught and practiced, students should display skills in the performance of additional and advanced examination of the skeleton, and contrast studies. The student will learn skills needed to care for and radiograph paediatric, geriatric and acutely ill patients. Functioning in the operating theatre, Intensive Care Unit and emergency departments will also be covered. Students will be introduced to procedure and patient care in Computed Tomography scanning. Students will critically analyse resultant radiographs and suggest methods to improve the image or the need for additional radiographs. Students will apply their knowledge of radiation and patient safety to all procedures. All material learnt in this course is reinforced in practical laboratory setting. A digital radiological laboratory and imaging workstations will allow for hands on, practical and simulated experiential learning.
