ORAL12003 Oral Health Clinical Practice 1

Course details

On completion of this course, students should be able to demonstrate skill in dental examination, medical and dental history taking, risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning of dental caries and periodontal diseases for patients across the lifespan. Students should also be able to demonstrate competency in extra- and intra-oral radiology and radiology; in pain management and administration of local anaesthesia; and in the prevention and management of dental caries and periodontal diseases. Students will also be able to demonstrate skill in teeth whitening, and in impression-taking, and in the fabrication of study models, mouthguards, and trays for whitening and preventive medicaments. Lastly, students will be able to communicate oral health in oral and written formats in terms of relevant interpersonal/team communication skills and professional attitudes/behaviours.
