Course details
As the first of the third year advanced studios, this course seeks to integrate the various elements of the theatre artist’s craft. At this level, a greater degree of insight and personal reflection as evidenced through practice is expected.
The students in the Music Theatre specialisation should develop a systematic progression of skills and expressive practicum in the realisation of the art of Musical Theatre, and an exploration of songs outside the standard repertoire. The Scene-Into-Song classes use the voice within the character and the intertwined possibilities and choices dictated by movement as a unified expression of characterisation.
Students in the Drama specialisation will explore technique and style appropriate for plays from the Renaissance through the eighteenth century to modern drama.
Students in the Technical Theatre specialisation will explore scenography as an integration of the various design elements in theatre.
