Course details
Tourism is one of the largest industries in many countries bringing many benefits to destinations including positive economic, social and environmental impacts. However, if tourism is not properly managed many of these positive impacts can be offset by various negative impacts that tourism can create. This course will cover such issues as the historical development of tourism policy; current policy trends; policy instruments, implementation and evaluation; the tourism policy and planning processes; and national, regional and local tourism policy and planning. This course is critical to allow students to understand the principles of tourism policy and planning allowing them to analyse policy and make informed and strategic decisions.
