MEDI13002 Imaging Procedures 3

Course details

This course provides an overview of non routine imaging procedures requiring contrast media and specialised equipment such as Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, rapid serial radiographic units and including angiography, mammography, and interventional procedures. This course will examine advanced techniques and alternative imaging modalities. The student will be introduced to X-ray bone mineral densitometry, comparative imaging and learns to compare the procedures, their benefits, similarities and differences. The uses of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Fusion Imaging will be introduced. Concepts and images of Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Portal imaging in Radiation Therapy will be discussed. The role of the radiographer in these examinations will be taught incorporating appropriate patient care and radiation safety procedures.
