SPCH21006 Swallowing and feeding across the Lifespan

Course details

This course explores the social and physiological impacts of voice and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. The assessment, diagnosis and management of voice and swallowing disorders are examined in relation to their effects on voice production and vocalisation. A range of disorders affecting ingestion of food and liquid are examined in association with their effect on voice production and vocalisation. The students will develop competencies in assessment tools, treatment options and treatment planning for voice and swallowing. The students will also develop an overview of the physiology associated with voice production and swallowing across the lifespan along with the psychosocial impacts of voice and swallowing disorders.
