COIT20236 Business Intelligence Management

Course details

The course appraises how managers use computerised and intelligent decision-support systems for accessing important information, the principles of decision-making, data modelling and how Business Intelligence tools are used by enterprises to support intelligent decision-making. Students compare and contrast different perspectives regarding the unique capability of Information Systems that provide support for decision-makers and how various information systems (such as Decision Support Systems, Knowledge Based Systems, Data Mining, Business Intelligence) are integrated at the enterprise level to support managerial decision-making. Students apply a financial modelling language to analyse the information needs of decision-makers, evaluate and develop tools in the implementation of what we call, all these technologies and systems collectively, Management Support Systems (MSS).
