Career Opportunities

Podiatrists work in both urban and rural areas such as in public and private hospitals; community welfare, health services (including public health), research and development, and private practice.

Podiatry

The Bachelor of Podiatry (Honours) provides students with the knowledge and skills to practice as a podiatrist. It is a four year program offered in internal mode at Rockhampton campus. It will deliver graduates skilled in problem solving and critical thinking. The program encourages a culture of lifelong learning and produce workplace ready successful graduates. It has a strong health science foundation, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology and physiology, followed by specialised courses in podiatry, emphasis on communication and problem solving in the workplace, and the role of podiatrists, and healthcare in contemporary society.

 

Central to this program's progress is the development of the Integrated Health Clinic that will provide students with an unparalleled opportunity to blend real-life clinical experience with contemporary best practice theoretical education.  Clinical practice is integrated throughout the program. The Bachelor of Podiatry (Honours) provides an opportunity that will equip graduates with skills, knowledge and experience necessary to fill emerging health workforce roles. This exciting program reflects the contemporary direction of the national agenda on health and emphasises a multi-disciplinary approach.
