Career Opportunities

With the growing complexity in financial markets, changes in superannuation laws and the growing need of the individual to maintain their chosen lifestyle, the need for expert knowledge in planning individuals' financial wealth has increased. Currently there are just over 18,000 financial advisers in Australia working for 749 advisory groups operating over 8,000 practices.  Career opportunities can be found with medium to large sized 'dealer groups' that often operate like a franchise, institutional-owned financial adviser firms with employed advisers, and as an independent financial planner who may have their own licence or work with a licensee.

About Financial Planning

Students in the Bachelor of Financial Planning program undertake foundation business courses in their first term, and then focus on the financial planning process, with courses in aspects of taxation and commercial law, superannuation, investment management, risk management and estate planning. The final year of the program contains a set of integrating courses, designed to develop analytical and strategic skills.
