EDED11450 Second Language Teaching Methodologies

Course details

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to major theories of second language learning and teaching. The course also provides students with opportunities to reflect major issues that are specific to the field of second language acquisition. Students will investigate a wide range of methodological approaches to the learning of a second language. As well, the role that the individual plays in the learning process and what factors contribute to differential success among second language learners will be examined. The course is beneficial not only for pre-service teachers who will teach a second language but also for those who will teach general school subjects (e.g. math, science, HPE) in a second language.
