EDED20456 Pedagogical Content Knowledge

Course details

Curriculum understandings and the assumptions that underpin the curriculum frameworks used in educational contexts is the focus of this course. Students will explore challenges associated with the implementation of curriculum that aligns with pedagogy and assessment in a context of accountability and system concerns about outcomes. The course examines concepts of curriculum, selection of declarative and procedural knowledge for inclusion in the curriculum, pedagogical strategies for implementing curriculum and the management of learning sites. Students will engage with the relevant curriculum framework to their context to plan and implement learning experiences. For students in primary settings this will be through a specific focus on The Arts and Health and Physical Education Key Learning Areas and Essential Learnings; for secondary this will be contextualised through the two relevant middle phase of learning Key Learning Areas and Essential Learnings.
