BMSC13004 Advanced Histopathology

Course details

On completion of this course, students should be able to review the characteristic features of histopathology as they apply to each human organ system including diagnosis and staging of tumours and the immune response. Identification of appropriate special staining procedures for specific tissue types and microorganisms will be developed through practical exercises and case studies. Students will report on new developments in immunohistochemistry and fluorescence imaging. Distance education (FLEX) students will be required to have access to a computer to make frequent use of internet resources and to attend a residential school on Rockhampton campus to promote development of course learning outcomes.
