Course details
This course at first explores the historical, political and normative dimensions of social policy and policy-making in Australia, with particular reference to the idea of social citizenship, and to the proposition that the welfare state is being replaced by the neo-liberal state as a context for policy making. This is then followed by an examination of practical aspects of policy implementation through program delivery in a number of human services areas, including employment, health, services for Indigenous people, young people and elderly care. Students develop practical skills in policy analysis and program implementation at the agency level.
