MEDS12003 Superficial Structures in Ultrasound

Course details

On completion of this course, students should be able to critically assess the normal and abnormal sonographic image of superficial structures and extra cerebral, upper and lower limb vasculature by using skills and knowledge of anatomical, pathological and physics principles. The student will learn strategies to use with all types of patients including geriatric and paediatric patients. They will become familiar with the link between embryology and human development and will learn to interpret requisitions and laboratory data relevant to a patient. Using correct sonographic terminology, the student will be able to create written technical impression of cases. Practical and laboratory exercises will be incorporated as part of the learning process.
