Course details
This course is for Faculty students enrolled in postgraduate programs and research higher degrees. It is a prerequisite course to provide essential background for students undertaking research projects, professional practicums, or theses/dissertations.
Research methodologies and some research designs can cross the "boundaries" of the different frameworks or paradigms for research-namely the positivistic, interpretative or hermeneutic, and the critical. The intention of the course is to alert students to the differing strengths and weaknesses of various research designs and methodologies.
Another important thrust of this course is to convey some of the ethical-political issues that arise in doing research.
