Course details

On completion of this course, students should be able to use the reading, thinking and writing skills necessary for academic purposes. This includes using appropriate grammar and writing patterns and conventions required for academic purposes. Students are also encouraged to examine their own worldviews, and those of others, and to develop critical thinking skills. In addition, the course helps students to apply a range of learning strategies to writing and study. Students are familiarised with a variety of genres and the stages of the writing process. A student should then be able to plan and write the academic essay, using independent research skills.
