NURS11151 Beginning Nursing Practice

Course details

On completion of this course students should be able to describe the Australian Health Care system and differentiate between the roles of the government and private sectors with respect to service delivery. Students should be able to compare and contrast the roles of the nurse under the main models of contemporary nursing. In addition students should demonstrate knowledge and skills in clinical decision making and beginning competence in nursing practice through the development of a clinical portfolio.

Students are required to participate in 160 hours of compulsory Clinical placement. Participation will provide the student with a suitable learning environment to support the course outcomes. Flexible students will undertake 12 hours of online lectures and online activities and internal students will undertake 24 hours of tutorial activities and 12 hours of Lectures. There is no residential school attached to this course.
