Course details
This course introduces practical aspects of electrical technology like motors and electrical drive systems, generation systems and associated controls. It reviews electricity and magnetism and energy conversion and applies these fundamentals to analysis of electrical machines, power supply systems, electrical safety and protection devices and control systems. Students select drives for given applications, they undertake project and laboratory work and develop professional skills required to work and learn both collaboratively and as individuals. They conduct investigations, check their work, analyse and evaluate project and laboratory work and prepare reports that demonstrate clear communication of technical information.
Distance education (FLEX) students are required to have access to a computer and to make frequent use of the Internet.
