COMM13110 Communication Project A

Course details

This course allows students to study research projects in the communication field under staff supervision and prepares them, in the first instance, for Communication Project B, where their projects involve: research on an academic topic (such as Cultural studies or Journalism) or the use and application of practical skills (such as media production). In the above cases the course content will be flexible and delivered in a seminar format. A typical schedule will include the following components, depending on the nature of the project: literature review; feasibility study; methodology/project design; project management; reporting, writing and presentation. In the case of the practical project work, students may also choose to evaluate existing projects as case studies rather than take the literature review and theory components.

In cases of work placement with an approved work organisation (such as public relations), Communication Project A will comprise only the workplace component by arrangement through the appropriate staff and may in this instance be taken independently of Communication Project B.

Interested students, who have completed 48 credit points and have previously enrolled in courses of the Communication program, should direct their enquiries to the Program Advisor and Course Coordinator prior to enrolment.
