Course details
This course introduces machines such as motors and drives that convert electrical energy to other forms of energy. It covers construction and operational characteristics of DC and AC electrical machines, machine protection and control schemes and machine selection and specification for particular applications. Students develop a capacity to work, learn and communicate ethically and professionally, to investigate and solve problems and present solutions. They communicate effectively regarding technical aspects of design and operation of electrical machines and drives and to clearly document problem solutions.
Distance education (FLEX) students are required to have access to a computer, to make frequent use of the Internet, and are required to participate in Residential School activities.
