Course details

This course is an introduction to graphic design and publication production. Students will obtain practical skills using the industry standard software Adobe InDesign to integrate text and graphics into layouts ready for printing. Students gain an understanding of how to use layouts to communicate effectively in the context of audience, function, and purpose. Fundamental design principles are explored as students apply their theoretical and practical skills to a range of layout examples through the construction of a design portfolio. NOTE: To study this course it is essential that students have access to a computer (PC or Macintosh) and the software, Adobe InDesign. The computer needs to be connected to a printer (colour or black and white); and a CD-ROM drive with burner. It is also essential to have access to the Internet as there is an online component to this course.
