Course details
Following consultation with the course coordinator, the student will be undertake one of two pathways: Pathway 'A' (internship) or Pathway 'B' (research project) as follows.
A. The student undertakes a self-initiated internship with an acknowledged Arts organisation for up to a period of six weeks. Students wishing to undertake an internship or secondment will be responsible for financing any necessary travel, accommodation and other associated costs. Within the period of internship, the student will keep a journal that documents the background and specifics of the internship. The journal will include information about the structure of the organisation, roles of personnel with the organisation, responsibilities undertaken during the internship/secondment, production roles (where applicable) and newly acquired skills and techniques. Where possible, the journal should be augmented with technical literature and photo media.
B. Offers the student an opportunity to identify and instigate a modeled response to an issue observable in a production situation. Through problem-solving methodologies, the identified issue; which may be seen to require enhancing, modifying, rectifying or general re-conceiving, will be expounded by the student in a sustained analysis with recommendations for possible implementation. Physical or computer modeling of the proposed solution to the problem may also be used as appropriate.
